Frequently asked questions

Straight answers — no OCR promises, no cloud vault fiction, no unlimited tiers.

Is my vault stored in the cloud?
No. Your Markdown library lives on your machine in a folder you choose. The web console is for account, billing, and usage — not hosting your notes.
How does AI chat work?
On desktop you chat through your Rebel Command account and the API gateway — not by pasting API keys in the browser. Usage is metered in weighted monthly units; you can see limits on the web console.
Can I use Rebel Command in the browser for chat?
MVP chat runs in the desktop app. The website handles marketing, sign-up, subscriptions, and usage visibility.
What about PDFs?
Text-based PDFs extract to Markdown through classified save. Scanned PDFs without a text layer are not supported — we do not claim OCR. Export uses your rendered preview snapshot.
Are plans unlimited?
No. Every tier has a finite monthly quota in units (Flash-style requests weigh less than research-style). Limits and prices are configured in the database, not hard-coded in the app.
How is Rebel Command related to rebelGlitch?
Rebel Command is the product — a local-first vault for anyone who ships. rebelGlitch is the parent company focused on AI training for coders and a line of AI edge devices. Same rebel spirit: credentials matter less than what you ship.
Do you sync my files automatically?
We do not built-in cloud sync for your vault. You pair Rebel Command with Git, Syncthing, iCloud, or whatever stack you already trust.
Where do chat threads live?
Open tabs and drafts persist in local SQLite on desktop until you close a tab or save the thread to the vault as a real .md note. Semantic search indexes vault Markdown — save to vault is the bridge from conversation to memory.
