No. Sign up and work in your browser — like any website. An optional desktop app is still available if you prefer an installed app. Your files can stay on your computer either way; you no longer need constant downloads and updates just to keep the software current.

Your choice. Keep your library on your machine, or store files online in our databases so you can retrieve them on any device. Online vault files are encrypted at rest so that not even we can read the file content. Account, billing, and usage still live on our servers; AI requests you send include only the context you attach.

No. Files you store in our databases are encrypted so operators cannot see the plaintext content. When you attach notes to an AI request, that selected content is sent through the gateway to provide your answer — same as any AI product that uses your context.

Not today. Sign in with your DeskMemory account; built-in AI runs through our gateway. Bring-your-own-API-key (BYOK) for top third-party LLMs is coming soon if you want to use other models with your own keys.

Basic roles (strategist, editor, coach, and similar) stay available with DeskMemory. Advanced roles are deep knowledge bases you can subscribe to — for example Marketing Director — so the AI works like a specialist. More niche roles (herbalist, livestock management, and others) are upcoming and not all available yet.

You chat through your DeskMemory account. Choose Fast (everyday) or Research (deeper) mode. Vault files you select inject as full note bodies within limits. Usage is metered; see remaining messages in the product and on the web console.

One-time purchases of extra AI messages that never expire. They are consumed after your plan's monthly allowance when applicable — useful when you need a boost without changing tiers.

Free curated Markdown kits — coaches, reference guides, and output templates for areas like brand, marketing, writing, HR, and finance. They complement roles and are not the same as paid message packs or subscribe-able advanced roles.

Prefix a query with ~ for semantic search. Without ~, hybrid ranking blends filename matches with embedding similarity. Results show explainable badges and you can tune Conservative / Balanced / Broad strictness in Settings.

Text-layer PDFs extract to Markdown through classified save — up to 20 pages per import. Scanned PDFs without a text layer are not supported yet; we do not claim OCR until that ships. Export uses Preview → Save PDF as… for real selectable-text output.

No. Free, Pro, and Elite tiers have finite monthly plan messages. Fast-style requests weigh less than Research-style in usage accounting. Limits and prices come from the database, not hard-coded in the app.

No. Plan and pack prices are shown excluding VAT. The VAT amount depends on your country and is added at checkout before you pay.

When Top relevant matches surface the right files, multi-select them, confirm categories and tags, pick a role and output format, then compile to clipboard or add directly to chat — with vault context still attached.
